The Folsom City Zoo Sanctuary houses two black bears, a female named Tahoe and a male named Sequoia. But they’ve also welcomed an unexpected roommate.

When a feral cat snuck into the enclosure, some expected the worst for the unsuspecting kitty. But not only did this lucky black cat remain unscathed, she ended up befriending the 550-pound Sequoia!

Since the kitty feels right at home hangin’ with the furry giants (maybe she thinks she’s a tiny black bear?) zoo staff given her a name: Little Bear.

“The cat pretty much ignored female Tahoe, but apparently the female cat, now called Little Bear by a Zookeeper, is working to becoming male bear Sequoia’s new best friend,” the zoo said in a statement, reported by ABC News. “Often when Sequoia takes a hike through the ‘bear forest’ his cat friend walks with him. She rubs against walls and visitors can hear her raspy purr from quite a distance.”

You may be surprised to hear that Little Bear has lived in the sanctuary with the “big bears” for a few years now, but the friendship has just begun taking the media by storm. By now, Little Bear is considered a fixture at the zoo, and she gets fed alongside the other animals every day–only, she gets her very own bowl of cat food.

We’re glad this kitty has been able to find a safe home along with the other animals at the Folsom City Zoo Sanctuary. It’s no wonder that this adorable cat and bear duo have become a must-see attraction for visitors!
