We pet parents want the best for our cats, and we always try to be prepared. From nutritious food, to safe toys, to daily play sessions and beyond, it’s important to us to make sure that our felines are as happy and healthy as can be. 1. A good preventive and proactive health care routine
Dr. S: Cats — still genetically wild animals — are different [than other pets]. They’re still hard-wired to hide their problems, illnesses and injuries. This can make it tough for cat owners to figure out when their beloved feline is in need of a trip to the veterinarian, making their “regular health check ups” [especially] important.
2. Mental and physical stimulation for your cat
Dr. S:Â Cats need to be stimulated, so games and toys are important to keep cats from getting bored. A simple fidget toy can entertain your cat. A window bed is the perfect “TV” for your furry friend. A long piece of wire with some cardboard bits attached to the ends can keep your entertained for hours. Even simple, inexpensive toys can be great.
3. Items for your kitty to scratch and “hunt”
Dr. S:Â Help protect your furniture with a scratching post and make sure it is durable. It will help to keep your cat from destroying the furniture.
HEXBUG Nano Robotic Cat toys are great, they simulate the movement of a mouse or bug. Just be careful not to leave your cat alone with these, as they can be a choking hazard. Plastic practice golf balls are great to slowly roll across the floor, your cat will chase and bat them around having all sorts of fun.
4. A private/clean place for them to potty
Dr. S: Cats are private and like to keep their place clean. Your cat needs a place to do his/her business… A covered litter box with scooper is a must.
5. Comfy “safe spaces” for them to lounge
Dr. S:Â Cats love to climb, hide and squeeze into small places. Your cat will love a soft cat condo which will provide a safe place for them to feel comfortable.
