| Published on January 3, 2017

Winter is upon us and when the weather gets cold, we tend to hunker down with our families and loved ones – both two- and four-legged. Our cats are just as much a part of our families, and we want them there with us; that’s why we have them as companions!

But the holiday season and winter days can bring hectic schedules that can distract us from regular routines. And kitties love routine. Be sure to adhere to your cat’s household schedule as much as possible. Giving them some extra attention in this busy keeps felines feeling included, which we know cats love! They are our supervisors, after all. While we can get them material things like toys and treats to make them feel special, there are other ways we can treat our kitties this season that’ll leave them fulfilled.

3 Ways To Spoil Your Cat This Winter

1. Extra Play

Cats are known for being independent, but most of us know that they really do enjoy spending time with their people. In fact, some cats even get very lonely and upset when they don’t get enough attention from their families.

Taking the time to play with your cat is important for their physical and mental well-being, so why not take some extra time for a new game or more play sessions during those days when you’re snowed in? Plus, playing more often will allow you to spend fun time together! It might even help you relax after the holidays.

2. Massage

Many humans like a little spa treatment, so why wouldn’t your cat? Massages are a great way to treat your kitty to something extra special. Not only do they feel fantastic, they provide many great benefits to your cat’s health and well-being. Similar to people, feline massage increases circulation and promotes healing. This is especially important for sick or injured cats recovering from their ailment. But all cats and kittens can benefit from a proper massage. Besides, they just feel really great!

3. Special Meals

Most people cook warm and comforting meals in the wintertime, so why not try and fix something great for your cat? Nope, this is not just a tasty treat you can buy at their favorite pet supply store. We mean you can bake your own treats or make an exquisite, healthy meal for your feline companion.

Make sure to use ingredients safe for cats, your cat in particular. All cats react to different ingredients different ways, and if your cat is allergic to certain foods, you’ll want to avoid them. Also, keep it healthy – a greasy burger or fatty bacon can cause some serious issues for our cats, especially if they aren’t used to having it. But some plain boiled chicken or fish might be exactly what they’re waiting for. You can also bake some delicious, healthy cat treats for your kitty to enjoy throughout the week with ingredients you have at home. This is a great way to use excess fruits and vegetables!
