Although cats aren’t likely to go on runs and long hikes with their owners the way dogs do, there are certainly plenty of cats that can be appreciated by cat-loving athletes. Within the cat world, there are several cat breeds who’d be happy for a day on the trail or going for a swim with thier parents. 

Certain breeds are impressively athletic and will have no problem keeping up on a brisk walk or in active play. Some of these high energy kitties may need so much play and exercise to stay happy and healthy, they would do well with cat accessories like cat wheels or cat agility training. #1 – Egyptian Mau

The Egyptian Mau is the fastest cat breed, reaching speeds of up to 30mph. They are active and curious cats with powerful legs that help them leap up onto very high shelves and counters. The breed is also known for being easy to train.

The Abyssinian is a very active breed that rarely sits still. They excel at cat agility, food puzzle games and learning tricks. Abyssinians can get bored when left home alone for extended periods and does well with another companion to play with.

The Somali is the long-coated version of the Abyssinian and can be trained just as easily as its short-haired cousin. Somalis are very affectionate and active companions, often greeting their owners at the door with great excitement. They are easy to teach to walk on a leash as well.
