Kitten Cheats Death, Finds His Purpose Comforting Other Rescues

Champ is a special kitten. He was found in a litter of abandoned kittens stuffed inside a box and discarded at gas station. Thankfully a good Samaritan discovered the kittens and immediately took them to Animals in Distress, a rescue organization in Ipplepen, UK.

He was one of four kittens in his litter. They were so young when they were found that their umbilical cords were still attached. Without any milk from their mother, they weren’t able to get the nutrition and immunity they needed. The devoted rescue workers spent many sleepless nights watching over these babies, but unfortunately three of the four were unable to overcome an infection and passed away. This left Champ as the only survivor – and he wasn’t giving up.

Caregivers stepped in as much as possible, feeding him around the clock and tending to his every need. Champ pulled through and earned his name, becoming the healthy youngster he is today. When he finally learned to eat solid food on his own, the staff celebrated. He was truly pulling through and thriving.

Now that he’s feeling good and walking around, Champ likes to take a stroll around the shelter. In fact, he really likes to visit the other cats. These are all cats just like Champ – those being given a second chance at life and needing forever homes.

Champ likes to stop by and greet the other felines through the glass windows. He tries to play with them and offer comfort, and they’re always delighted to see him. He obviously knows how to make them feel safe and happy. When he’s done making the rounds, he settles down for a much-needed and well-deserved nap. He’s really come a long way in his short life already and is doing everything he can to give back to others in need.
